This is how my face looks.
I am an ECD at BBDO New York. Alongside my partner Marcos Kotlhar I run a group at that includes 8 global brands, including Bacardi, Bombay Sapphire, Dewars, Havana Club, Columbia Records, Day One, Macy’s and Foot Locker. We have 20 creatives in our team and our goal is always to do work that is culturally relevant and that feels more like entertainment and less like ads. Most importantly, work that people want to engage with.
I began my career at AlmapBBDO in Brazil in 2003 and there, under Marcello Serpa and with the support of many other talented people we helped turn Havaianas from a local flip flop brand into a true global fashion icon. There, I created award winning work not only for Havaianas, but also for Volkswagen, Pepsi, GettyImages and ultimately for Billboard Magazine, which received a Cannes Lions Grand Prix and several other shiny metal around the world.
In 2009 I moved to New York and at BBDO I worked on a variety of categories and brands that include Guinness, FedEx, Snickers, Starbucks, AT&T, HBO and many more. During those years I was fortunate enough to be included in pretty much every “Number Under Number” list you can find on the internet, and ended up named BBDO NY first ever Head of Art & Design and soon later Executive Creative Director.
Now as leader of our current group I feel proud of doing what I do best, helping brands come around a tough time and find their place in culture. After 3 years working with Bacardi we completely transformed a brand who was in decline and is now part of the cultural and music zeitgeist and was recognized as the most awarded brand in the spirits category, even been added to the permanent collection of MoMA through the AICP. And after 1 year working with Macy’s we inverted their sales trajectory and helped them achieve their first positive quarters after 11 negative ones.
Creating work that helps brands be as amazing as they should be is my goal. And to do that in a environment where people have fun and enjoy coming to work everyday is my obsession.
